That's actually how it used to be run before the AoE patch. The 55hp aggroes and holds while the Ele does a triple or quadruple Meteor Shower on the mobs, then using a Fireball or two to finish them off. It still works, but after the AoE patch, most people stopped because they couldn't get over the scatter and adapt. Thus the 55hp's found a 'new' build from another class to (ab)use to fulfill their dreams of ecto. When the next big nerf comes though, they are sure to forget all about SS and move on to milking something else.

I dont think meteor showers can reach the ammount of dmg SS does. When u cast SS on a 3 man group, you have 3x41= 123 dmg every 1.5 seconds. That makes 1230 dmg over 15 seconds. Its not possilbe to cast 4 meteor showers because of the energy and exhaustion of it, so i take 3 meteor showers. They do 9x'60'=540 dmg (i dont know the armor lvl of the aatxes) over 15 seconds. And after 3 meteor showers, it takes a while to regen from that, while a SS necro can go further immediatly after killing, because of soul reaping. So a ele is way inferiour to a SS necro, especially against aatxes who have a sick ammount of hp.

Ele would be better though against the smites.

We all know SS is more powerful than elementalist AoE, and likely will be until either it gets a well-deserved nerf, or elementalists get a fire AoE elite.

But the question as to whether fire AoE is good enough is still interesting.

still though if their is a fire element elite the aoe nerf will still be in affect and SS will still do more damage

That depends, of course, on how the elite is designed.

How about Meteor with a fast recharge and no exhaustion? That would be a worthy rival to SS ...

you guys got the point the fire line needs a new elite and i hope elementalists will get one with the upcoming expansion (ele fan myself )

nevertheless i must steer you away form saying the elementalist is inferiour because this is not the main stream of this thread but rather how to make it a valiable choice for duo farming.

Well as in the link i posted above you can see that you can combine the ele with the necro and use ss your self to a lower extent of course ... but still.

Id wish it was possible to do it pure ele. i now know that the chanes to do it right now are almost 0 but maybe with the new skills well get smth. wich will speed up the work

I also meant that elemantalist is inferiour to SS necros when it comes to UW farming. (Ele is also my favorite profession, i even tried to solo UW whit it). But I farmed UW once whit a Fire nuker. It went very very slow. But if you really want to farm whit an ele, make a E/N use SS and also some AoE skills of the ele line. It would still be slower, but its an option

Yeh Mind Burn being only Fire Elite and causing exhaustion...they shoud remove exhaustion IMO. We fire ellies need more elites!

Earth also needs a new elite...
I didn't try Obsidian Flesh, though. Could it be useful with dual Attune +Wards (thinking what slots would I have left for offense/support)?

Dual attunements = no Obsidian Flesh. Although Elementalists can replace a 55-Monk.

2 elites....heh silly me!

Heavy geo can tank, with tweaks.

Water eles are primary flaggers/runners for gvg.

So much for the "primary damage dealers" class description thingie.
